Programme Description:

Learners who complete this blended learning module will understand the different pedagogical methods and philosophies reinvigorates those working in the field of ECCE. The aim of this blended learning module is to equip the learner with comprehensive knowledge and skills to develop and implement curricula in the ECCE setting.

Course Content:

  • Theoretical principles of a range of pedagogical approaches and how to apply these for quality
  • practice in ECCE settings.
  • Importance of the role of the adult as critical to the support of the learning and development of
  • children under 6 years.
  • Exploration of emergent literacy and numeracy skills in ECCE settings.
  • Knowledge and understanding on how to design and implement an Early Childhood
  • Curriculum that complements and reinforces the underlying philosophies and themes of
  • Aistear and Siolta
  • Personal and Professional Development

Important Information

The approach to delivery may have to be adjusted at short notice moving to online depending on advice from the Government.  Refunds will NOT BE given if classes have to move online from the classroom.  Please ensure that you have access to a device to support your learning and you are comfortable to move online.

Course Delivery

This course is delivered through a blended learning approach (classroom / online)

• Students must have basic IT Skills.

• Good internet connection.

Fee Information

  • A fee waiver of 30% is provided for applicants in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment. Please also check other fee waiver entitlements with Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP), INTREO or your Local Employment Service (LES) office that you may be eligible for.
  • A fee waiver of 50% will apply for OAP applicants
  • A fee waiver of 40% will apply for Current Day Learner applicants

These discounts will apply to the tuition fee of the course, and is not applicable to examination fees.
